Did You Know? 4th of July Edition!
Independence Day is a big holiday in the US. Here are some fun facts around our favorite 4th of July holiday.
1. We declared independence on the 2nd of July.
2. July 4th was not deemed a federal holiday until 1870, nearly 100 years after the nation was founded.
3. Wearing the flag is a violation of the US flag code.
4. There is something written on the back of the declaration.
5. Only two people signed the declaration on the 4th. The other signed it throughout the rest of the month.
6. The first newspaper to print the Declaration of Independence was the Pennsylvania Evening Post.
7. It was once considered disrespectful to keep your business open on the 4th of July.
8. There are some copies of the Declaration of Independence with a woman’s signature on it.
9. John Adams predicted Independence Day would be a massive celebration for many generations.
10. Americans consume around 150 million hot dogs in this one day.
