Let's Go Outside! National Outdoors Month
June is National Outdoors Month. We won’t lie; we love being outdoors – hiking, biking, or simply enjoying the nature around us makes us really content. However, it’s not something that comes naturally to all of us. For example, some people prefer to enjoy the coolness of an airconditioned home rather than face the sun, and so on.
Nonetheless, the health benefits of just a couple of minutes outside per day are profound. Of course, this isn’t just in the summer, but naturally, it’s easier to commit to at this time of year.
Why is it so important?
Nature and the great outdoors have a significant impact on our mental health. It can decrease stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms while also enhancing our spiritual growth, connection with nature, and lust for life.
However, it can also impact other physical ailments people commonly experience. For example, walking in nature can help to lower your blood pressure.
It has also been linked to a quicker recovery for patients who have gone through surgery, with them needing fewer painkillers and experiencing fewer complications than patients who spent the majority of time indoors.
